Chelsea Flower Show
Steel and timber structures built for show gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, realising the designs of leading garden designers — in schemes that have taken RHS Gold, Silver Gilt and the BBC People’s Choice Award.
Sam builds the structures at the heart of show gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, working to the designs of the garden designers and architects who conceive them. The work is mostly in steel and timber — frames, pavilions, raised platforms and seating — detailed and made in the workshop, then assembled on site for the show.
The 2026 garden, Journey Beyond the Tracks — Adelaide to Perth, is designed by Max Parker-Smith and centres on a train carriage pavilion in steel and greenheart.
In 2025, Seeding Success — designed by Joe Perkins for The King’s Trust and sponsored through Project Giving Back — took an RHS Gold Award. Sam detailed and made its steel structure.
The Octavia Hill Garden in 2024, designed by Ann-Marie Powell with structure design by Giles Jollands Architects, paired a steel structure and thatched backing with a high-level platform, alongside a layered oak bench designed and made by Sam. It won a Silver Gilt medal and the BBC People’s Choice Award.
