Furniture is where Sam's work began, and it remains at the heart of everything he does. Trained in Furniture Design and Applied Arts, he showed his first collection at the Northcote Gallery aged 22 and has designed and made bespoke pieces ever since — tables, cabinets, desks, seating and lighting in oak, walnut, cast bronze, leather and glass. Limited editions made with his father, the pop artist Gerald Laing, sit alongside one-off commissions for private clients and venues, and the Bumbo Lamp, sold exclusively through Paul Smith Interiors.
