Outdoors, Sam designs and builds structures that sit quietly in their surroundings: oak-framed garden rooms, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, and Milland Stores and Café — an award-winning village shop he designed and fitted out in reclaimed elm. He is a regular presence at the Chelsea Flower Show, building show-garden structures with leading garden designers: the Octavia Hill Garden (People's Choice and Silver Gilt, 2024), Joe Perkins' Seeding Success pavilion (Gold, 2025) and Max Parker-Smith's Adelaide-to-Perth garden (Silver Gilt, 2026).
